The story of my 600 pound life

I was always a big kid. I remember being in elementary school and my parents having to buy me clothes from the “husky” section. I was always the largest kid in my class, but I wasn’t too worried about it. I loved food and I loved being big. My parents didn’t really make a big deal out of my weight, so I didn’t either.

Things started to change when I got older. I started to notice that I wasn’t like other kids my age. Most of my friends were going out and doing things, but I was always too tired. It was hard for me to do things that required a lot of physical activity because my body was so big. And, even though I loved food, I started to feel ashamed of how much I was eating.

I tried dieting a few times, but it was never successful. I would lose a few pounds, but then I would gain them back – and then some. By the time I was in my early twenties, I weighed over 600 pounds. That’s when I knew something had to change.

I turned to Dr. Nowzaradan for help. He is a renowned bariatric surgeon who has helped hundreds of people like me lose weight and get their lives back on track. His TV show, “My 600 Pound Life” documents the stories of people who are struggling with morbid obesity and trying to turn their lives around.

Dr. Nowzaradan put me on an extreme diet and exercise plan and helped me through some of the toughest moments of my life. It wasn’t easy, but with his help, support from my family, and a lot of hard work, I managed to lose over 400 pounds! My story is featured on season 5 episode 2 of “My 600 Pound Life” which aired on January 3rd, 2017 at 9|8c on TLC.”

What led to my 600 pound life

In the United States, an estimated 45.3 percent of adults are obese, with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more. In addition, nearly 33 percent of U.S. adults are considered overweight (BMI of 25 to 29.9). These statistics are based on the most recent data from 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

The causes of being overweight or obese are complex and include genetic, biological, behavioral, social, and economic factors. The good news is that even small changes in weight can lead to significant health benefits. A five to 10 percent weight loss can improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar control.

Many people who are overweight or obese turn to weight-loss surgery (also called bariatric surgery) as a way to achieve significant and durable weight loss. Weight-loss surgery is not a quick fix for obesity, but it can be an effective tool for people who are committed to making long-term changes in their diet and exercise habits.
